What is HDD?
HDD has a full form Hard Disk Drive. HDDs are a Storage Drive. It has been used for a long time. It was invented by IBM in 1956. It contains parts of the movie. To read and write data in HDD, Spinning Platter is attached which keeps circling and the speed at which these Spinning Platter rotates, the sooner the data is read and write. Most HDDs come with 5400 rpm and 7200 rpm Speed.
The storage capacity of the first HDD was 5 MB and its weight was 250 kg. IBM modified it in 1980 to make a new Hard Disk, whose storage capacity was much more 2.5 GB than before, it was very large in size and weight. HDD has been given the form of 500 GB Minimum Storage Capacity in Laptop and Computer in 2018. You will also get HDD easily in 1000 GB (1TB). By the way, HDD and SSD are similar in appearance. The thickness of HDD used in laptop is 2.5 Inch and in computer it is slightly thick 3.5 Inch.
Advantages of HDD
- It is very cheap
- You can find it very easily in the market
- HDD is very easy to get more capacities
Disadvantages of HDD
- It does a lot of power consume
- Its size and weight are also high.
- There is a high risk of data being lost.
- The speed of Data Read Write is less in this.
- It is a mechanical device so there are many problems in it.
What is SSD?
The full form of SSD is Solid State Device. SSDs are also a storage device. New technology is used in SSD. There are no moving parts in it. SSD keeps working even when there is no power. It consists of Data Write and Read Electronically. NAND-based Flash Memory is used in SSDs so that there is no data loss even after the system is off.
In this, the data is stored in a Micro Chip. When SSD first came in the market, people did not have much faith in it, but now many people are using this SSD. The life of SSD is very much because it does not have moving parts, so the chances of it getting spoiled are very less. SSD Pen Drive works like a memory card and its speed is many times higher than HDD but it is 3-4 times more than HDD.
Advantages of SSD
- It reads the data very fast.
- Its size and weight are very less.
- There is very little power consumption in this.
- Its Life Normal HDD is very high.
- There are no moving parts in it, so the chance of its deterioration is very low.
Disadvantages of SSD
- It is easily available in the market
- It is much more expensive than HDD
- In this you get less storage capacity
